Fabiola is back!
'The Freak' to announce new album for 21 February 2025
Six years after the highly acclaimed 'Check My Spleen' (still available in vinyl and CD) and some fifty dates in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and the Netherlands, FABIOLA is back on 9 October with an acid, flamboyant single, 'The Freak'. The track heralds the release of 'The Mushroom Type', a brand new record the band will present at Le Botanique in Brussels on 20 February 2025. In this "mushroom" version of the band, you will meet so well-known faces of the Belgian indie scence - Tim Clijsters (BRNS) on drums, Aurélien Auchain (Mountain Bike, June Moan) on guitars and Léa Kadian (Kunde) on bass.
In this first single, Fabrice doesn't talk about himself - quite surprinsingly! This freak, this madman, is one of his indie pop heroes - Ariel Pink - who fell from grace following the march on the US Capitol by Donald Trump's fanatics, in which Ariel Pink took part.
That's all it took for Fabrice long to write a labyrinthine pop reminiscent of the Beastie Boys, Why, Stereolab and Lewis Carroll. The train has never derailed, always caught at the edge of the void by sweet vocals and intertwining guitars and keyboards.
The lyric video is made of visuals created by Los Angeles based artist, Tyler Spangler. We have already admired his work on the album artworks of ENDZ as well as on the beer cans produced Brasserie Surréaliste.
